Amy Sherald - In past years her work has been autobiographical but has changed in response to her move to Baltimore, MD and has taken on a social context with a satirical twist. Sherald attended the Maryland Institute College of Art where she earned her M.F.A. in painting in 2004.

"I take pictures. They started as photographic love notes to New Orleans, where people know what it’s like to nearly lose something. We learned that you can never lose your voice. But over the past three years, I’ve looked into the eyes of thousands. They’ve shared the hopes and fears, their losses and joy with me.
I ask people to share one meaningful message with family, friends and strangers.”
